Trip 3 - "Death Ridge" (1st Run)
Observations:
1.) Did you know you can play "Disc Golf" in this area outside Prairie Hall? What is Disc Golf?
2.) The outdoor Disc Golf area leads to a hidden prairie area where beer cans litter the way. Hmmm...
3.) At first, I thought the prairie path led to a dead end, but there were several small, hard-to see trails splitting off. This was my first true foray into exploring the trails around SIUE. I later found on the internet that some people refer to this wooded area (where the brown paths are, basically) as "Death Ridge." I believe that these people are bikers, which should not be on these narrow, hilly trails. Refer to TrailReview.com - Death Ridge.
4.) There are some dangerous spots along Death Ridge. There is a stream that is way down below the adjacent trails. At some parts, the trail has been washed down the steep incline to the stream. You have to hold on to a tree on the other side and sidestep around the holes. I can't even imagine biking around them.
5.) Occasionally, there are massive uprooted trees blocking the trails. The tree I came across on this trip is one of the hardest to get around in the whole area.
6.) The forest exit I used leads into high prairie grass along Stadium Drive (Bluff Road). It is unmarked and somewhat difficult to find your way back in.
